biennial freerunner - team name?

I've had a nice idea for the production team logo/sting - basically hand drawn & rendered type (rockwell would be nice) with some technical drawing bits and bobs shot frame by frame (roughly) with a digital camera then animated very quickly through 3 secs. Show process and all that, I like that stuff. Will contrast nicely with the shiny biennial logo too and act as a transition to the titles. I'm off to town to get a cable shutter release now to save my sanity while I do it next week.

Anyway what should the official name be? production team sounds a bit stale, I think everyone's put more into it than that.

biennial freerunner - creative team?

I'll post a story board for the titles up thisafternoon if Dave W could check the order of things and the info's correct etc. before I start on that properly.

cheers, matt

  1. Hi Matt, I spoke with Jo today and she will check through the credits. As to the slide order I'll have a think and post later in more detail, but for now here are some thoughts…

    RE: logo
I quite like the name compounded such as biennialFreerunner and maybe the screens could read as:

    A) Liverpool Biennial logo
    B) A Joanne Millea Film
    C) A biennialFreerunner Production

This would then leave the © notice until the end of the credits. At this stage we can show the relevant school/college logos

Before we add the Biennial Logo into the film we'll need to run it by the LB office for their sign off. You never know LB may want to buy it off you :)

You're a ravenous-design-animal! Keep up the good work!

  2. cool, firstly what does compounded mean? do you mean no subtitle/team reference? if so that's fine and I know how I can lay out the hand drawn animation.

Second, if the biennial don't approve, then I'm visiting their offices with a bat for a) being ignorant and not replying to e-mails in the first place and then b) making me wasting quite a lot of hours tracing their logo and animating it (though I did learn a bit in c4d over the last couple of days)

  3. Compounding is the combining of multiple parts. So biennialFreerunner is run together. Samples ideas for laying out could be:

    With compounding…

    A biennialFreerunner Production

    (text centred)
    A
    biennialFreerunner
    Production

    Or without compounding…

    A biennial freerunner Production

    (text centred)
    A
    biennial
    Freerunner
    Production

Give them a try and see what looks best :-)

  4. RE: LB

I always find a 2x4 plank with a rusty nail through the top far more poetic (and effective in gaining replies to emails). Failing that its the old favourite of a sock filled with sand.

Remember, good manners cost nothing so remain polite if you go postal in their office, lift your little finger when coshing.

  5. oh I see, well I've been playing with the type stacked on top of each other and precisely kerned so you've got a nice tight chunky logo in the centre of the screen, so I was going to have that then underneath on one line in smaller type (probably handwritten)...

    biennial
    FREERUNNER

    a biennialFreerunner production

otherwise you've got huge type and small type all over the place. I'll do some layouts before I start the handmade stuff next week anyway and let you have a look.

  6. Cool, its all in how it aesthetically works. I'll look forward to seeing how things look. Good luck with the exam on Thurs.

  7. ta, I'm rendering out a final(ish) bf logo animation now with the colour values replaced with authentic ones from the logo gif on the site. If I render a web size preview from that and get it to a couple of MB I'll e-mail you the quicktime tonight so you can try getting in contact with them. Best give the plenty of notice. The automatic e-mail from the main contact on the site said he'd be back in the office on 21st july.

I'm seeing someone tonight about maybe doing a band's album/single cover and launch material design soon (big job so should be decent money), failing that I could do with them buying it haha
